High alert in Siwan, Begusarai and Nawada

PATNA: Three districts including Siwan are on high alert. Authorities in Bihar have imposed a ‘curfew-like’ lockdown in selected localities in at least three districts, Siwan, Nawada and Begusarai, after several people residing there were found to be infected with coronavirus.

Additional police forces have been sent to these places. A large number of Bihar Military Police (BMP) personnel have been deployed in Begusarai and Siwan on the direction of Bihar Police Headquarters. Six companies of BMP have been deployed to seal four identified corona positive hot-spots in Begusarai. Two commandant rank officer and several other officials have also been deployed there.

While, one company of BMP was sent earlier to seal the identified hot-spot and one more company will soon reach there. A total of 8 companies of BMP have been provided for both the districts.

“We are imposing a complete lockdown and curfew-like situation in the localities, from where these cases have been reported. No one can leave their houses in those areas,” said Bihar Police Director General of Police (DGP) Gupteshwar Pandey.
