PATNA: Amid the threat of corona virus infection across the country, the East Central Railway (ECR) has closed down all the operations till April 14 as per the directions issued by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During this period, the ECR on war foot scale has started the sanitization process of trains, railway stations and platforms. All the frontline staffs have been provided personal protective equipments and sprayer cum sanitiser equipment.
It is to be mentioned that due to the rising number of corona virus cases across the country, the Indian Railways in view of the safety of passengers, has suspended all kinds of passenger services including the mail/express, intercity, MEMU/DEMU trains till April 14. Only cargo trains will be operational during the period. The ECR is running 83 rakes (4820 wagons) of coal loading and 8 rakes (381 wagons) of general goods at present.
