The commissioner of Patna Sanjay Kumar Agrawal ordered to free all the nine major drains from encroachment and undertake their dredging. These drains connect most of the smaller drains and their chocking led to severe waterlogging sometimes back.
The commissioner constituted nine teams to remove encroachments and dredge out the drains including the oldest one Badhaaaai Paeen which runs in the southern locality and is linked with several small drains.
Other drains which Agrawal directed to make free and clean are Nalas of Anandpuri, Patelnagar, Saidpur, Jogipur, Nala from Nandlal Chapra to bypass road, Bakarganj Nala, Kurji Nala, Mandiri Nala and Nala from airport to Ashok Rajpath.
The first phase of anti encroachment drive along these major drains would be from November 13 to 20 while the second phase would be of two days, November 29 and 30.
” The drive would help cleaning of the major drains and it would be effective to check waterlogging in the town future”, said the Commissioner.
He said six teams were constituted to remove encroachments from Badshahi Nala which is encroached at various places by developing culverts and constructing temporary and permanent houses.
Agrawal said, the nine teams which would undertake the task of anti encroachment drive and drdging includes the district administration, water resources department, Patna municipal corporation and public works department.
